Sport Court® To Install Four Dodgeball Courts

We are excited to partner with these foundations,” said Ron Cerny, President and CEO of Connor Sport Court International. “We share the goals and ideals of these wonderful organizations

POSTED ON 9/16/10 |  Four specially designed Sport Court® dodgeball courts will be installed for the 2010 DodgeBarrage, charity dodgeball tournament, held on Saturday, September 18th at the Salt Palace Convention Center. All proceeds will benefit Deron William’s Point of Hope Foundation, Kyle Korver Foundation and Ronnie Price Foundation.

“We are excited to partner with these foundations,” said Ron Cerny, President and CEO of Connor Sport Court International. “We share the goals and ideals of these wonderful organizations and are pleased to assist them in helping to improve the lives of families and children living in our communities.”

The court installations will be provided by Sport Court West, Utah’s Sport Court Dealer for more than 30 years.

The DodgeBarrage event will consist of 96 dodgeball teams, 8-10 players each, ages 18 and older. Teams will be split into morning and afternoon pools, with teams from each session qualifying for a single elimination bracket play. The championship game is scheduled to start between 4:30 & 5:00 p.m. Spectators will be charged $10 per person and children under 12 will be admitted free of charge with a paying adult.

In addition, spectators can expect to see all three NBA players at the event participating plus other Utah Jazz teammates.

Sport Court is the world leader in outdoor and indoor playing surfaces. Their surfaces have been used in the Bejing Olympics, in the NCAA Volleyball Championships for the last 17 years; they have also been the official volleyball surface of the USA Volleyball Championships for more than 20 years and have been approved for outdoor competition by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) since 1994.

Furthermore, Sport Court has been named the official modular surface for the USTA and has worked jointly with them to help promote children’s tennis at numerous events throughout the country including many at the White House.

Sport Court® Goes Mobile With U.S.

Sport Court’s PowerGame is the safest court in the world,” said Ron Cerny, President and CEO of Connor Sport Court International.

POSTED ON 7/6/11 | “The Safest Court in the World” is Part of USTA Interactive Tour To Introduce 10 and Under Tennis to Kids and Adults. The United States Tennis Association is on the road with its 15-city US Open mobile tour and Sport Court® is providing the playing surfaces that introduce kids and adults to tennis.

The tour includes the Esurance SmashZone Appearance in the Erwin Center in Austin, Texas, on Tuesday, July 6, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and then moves to Dallas where it will be part of the Taste of Dallas festivities July 8-10.

The tour features Sport Court’s specially-designed PowerGame™, the ideal surface for tennis.

“Sport Court’s PowerGame is the safest court in the world,” said Ron Cerny, President and CEO of Connor Sport Court International. The Utah-based manufacturer has subjected its tennis surfaces to rigid third-party tests to come up with the optimum surface for safety and playability.

“We are delighted to again partner with the USTA as part of their ongoing program to encourage young people across the country to get active and start playing tennis,” Cerny added

The US Open SmashZone tour includes a 53-foot trailer, which anchors four kid-sized Sport Court PowerGame tennis courts. The tour is targeting family audiences and will stop at fairs and festivals, along with some retail venues and downtown locations across the country. Equipment and playing surfaces are scaled-to-size for kids.

10 and Under Tennis utilizes the QuickStart Tennis play format and gives children the chance to achieve immediate success by playing tennis on appropriately sized courts, using smaller and lighter racquets and slower-moving, lower-bouncing balls.

The trailer, which is handicap accessible, will feature interactive activities for visitors, including a Tennis Magazine Green Screen Cover Shoot, Wii Tennis and Touch Screen Kiosks. The kiosks will allow the public to find a facility in their area offering 10 and Under Tennis programming, and also will afford them the opportunity to design their own racquet (from an array of colors, frames, grips and strings), to become a USTA member, and to sign up for the Home Court Championship Sweepstakes, in which the USTA is giving away a tennis kit every day through the conclusion of the US Open. In addition, SmashZone will allow participants to try their skills on any of the four 10 and Under Tennis PowerGame courts, which will feature games such as “Champion of the Court” and a Target Challenge. “Taking one of the premiere attractions of the US Open on the road to showcase our 10 and Under Tennis initiative allows us to reach audiences that might not have ever experienced tennis before,” said Jon Vegosen, USTA Chairman of the Board and President. “To be able to get more racquets in kid’s hands at a young age, and to share with them the idea that tennis can be played anywhere from schools yards, to parks, to clubs, and even at home, underscores the fact that tennis is the sport of opportunity.” The tour kicked off at the Atlanta Jazz Festival and was part of the People’s Fair in Denver before proceeding to California.

CVTA bringing USTA Georgia 10

When Rome’s First Friday Concert Series resumes on Aug. 5, young and old in attendance will be able to raise a racket – make that a tennis racquet.

POSTED ON 7/28/11 | When Rome’s First Friday Concert Series resumes on Aug. 5, young and old in attendance will be able to raise a racket – make that a tennis racquet. In cooperation with the Coosa Valley Tennis Association, the USTA Georgia 10 and Under Sport Court Tour will be making a stop in Rome for the event and will give children and adults the opportunity to get a taste of what it’s like to play on a specially made36-foot court designed specifically to promote the national USTA 10-Under program.

“This court designed for juniors 10 & under has been well received by both all participants young and old because it makes playing tennis fun and east,” said Paige Miller, Director of Sales and Marketing for USTA Georgia. “USTA Georgia is using this unique way of bringing tennis to the people to educate parents and juniors about the size appropriate courts, racquets and balls.

“We have reached nearly 1.5 million people in the past year and look forward to continuing to spread the word about this new revolution in tennis.”

The court will allow children who are interested in playing tennis the chance to learn the sport that has been literally downsized thanks to a new shift in the USTA’s effort to get more kids playing tennis.

Instead of having to learn the game with adult equipment on an adult court, which has been the case in the past, children can know be introduced to tennis with every aspect of it being scaled down to their age and size, something that has been done in youth baseball, football, basketball, soccer and other programs.

In addition to the smaller 18’x36’ foot court, smaller racquets, smaller balls with less compression and a smaller net are being used.

While children will be able to play on the Sport Court, they will also have the opportunity to learn more about the 10-Under program that includes a one-year free USTA 10-Under Junior Membership, and how to sign-up for the CVTA’s upcoming Junior Team Tennis.

Adults, however, will also be given a chance to see what the new program is like and are invited to take swings on the court, and for those who are interested in playing for the first time, volunteers from the CVTA will be on hand to sign-up newcomers to the Tennis 101 program in which each registered player receives a free racquet and four weeks of lessons from a local pro.

Next week’s First Friday at Bridgepoint Plaza in downtown Rome is from 7-10 p.m. with the Infinity Show Band as the featured musical performer.

“We are happy to be celebrating our 23rd year as an official partner with USA Volleyball” said Ron Cerny, President and CEO of Connor Sport Court International, the Utah-based manufacturer of Sport Court volleyball courts. “Our experience with championship events through the years has greatly assisted in the development of market-leading sport surfaces”.

This year’s championships will be held in the Salt Palace Convention Center. Forty regions of USA Volleyball are represented in this event. “It makes the games more exciting and the team spirit bonds the players, leading to greater interest and participation in the sport,” said Cerny.

Sport Court’s Response™ and Response HG™ playing surfaces are state-of-the-art engineered polymer surface, which has Lateral Forgiveness ™ for player safety while at the same time providing the resiliency needed in this fast-moving sport. Connor Sport Court engineers have constantly developed and improved this court system to make it the official choice for volleyball organizations the world over.
